No News is Bad News

Which means that our house has not received one single offer yet.  We have had surprisingly very little traffic. The weird thing is the feedback is positive. Lot’s of people have loved the house. I guess just not enough to actually buy it. We are in crunch time right now. We took a big chance and now we need to make some decisions on what to do next.  I covet your prayers for this house to sell and quickly. You see, if it doesn’t then part of what we need to do is cut back on everything. And I like food, and hot water, and heat in the fall, and my phones and my internet. So if it doesn’t sell quickly then I will have to tearfully say goodbye to some or all of these things.  I wonder what will be the first thing to go?  Will it be my food, or my internet. Hmmm….it’s a toss up.

Open House

This Saturday is our first open house. And wouldn’t you know it, after the very slow start of summer weather, we are supposed to have heat in the 90’s. We do not have air conditioning, so it is going to be hot and very apparent that we don’t have air conditioning. We really only need it about 2 maybe 3 weeks out of the year, but when you are trying to show and sell a house, it is not a good thing.  There are still some last minute things we have to do, like paint more molding and hang doors back up. I really don’t want to paint molding ever again.  So beside cleaning and painting, I will be cleaning and painting.  It’s my life right now.

Oh, and please pray for my kids. They are so tired of trying to play on their own, without playing with anything.  They want to swim, have friends over and have a grand time.  They have been so patient but I fear the patience is wearing thin.  I was hoping to take them on a day trip to a camping area where some other local homeschoolers are, but I can’t take the time away right now.  I was planning on picking strawberries tomorrow, but now I am wondering the wisdom in having pounds strawberries to process right before an open house. Maybe I better wait until Monday.

It looks like an offer on the house is coming in tomorrow.  The people who came on Saturday loved the house and has even requested that we wait to MLS it until they get their offer in.  Praising God right now for His mercies and praying that this would work out. I’m trying hard not to jump for joy and whoop it up because the offer is not yet on the table. But, hopeful!

House photos

The Kitchen.  Yeah, it is done.  This is one side of it. It is a galley kitchen. When I get the dishes done and the other counter cleaned off I will take more photos.

This is the family room. Yes there is a laundry basket and a cat in the photo!

This is the deck I painted.

View of back yard.

Girls bedroom, three views.

It looks like we are finally going to get the house listed tomorrow after 4 long months.  We’ve learned a lot and I think we are better off because of this experience.  We will start working on the other house and move in as soon as we can.  Most important things to do over there is clean and paint.  The previous owners didn’t leave the house in great condition. I would have cleaned it anyways before moving in, but I got dirt and grime to do away with. Yuck! Hope you enjoyed the photos.

We are exhausted people!  This month is absolutely insane. I have so much to do, feed people, school, keep the house spotless, classes to finish up, recitals, birthday (mine that is…stay tuned for a possible birthday giveaway).  We didn’t make our May 5th deadline to list the house, due to my minor setback with a a virus. Hopefully next Monday is the big day.  This week is clean, clean, clean…and I am not looking forward to it one bit.  I’m feeling a bit stressed and I think hubby might be too. I know what would really help me…a bit of quiet time with the Lord. I really feel a bit lost in my walk lately. I need to find my way back.  I may also need a big bar of chocolate!

Prayer please

So for 4 months our lives have been turned upside down with remodeling this house and the pressure to get it sold and sold quickly.  The market is down, the house isn’t quite finished, there is cleaning to do still and things to move and about three projects that need to get finished in the next 4 days.  So far I’ve done well. I’ve handled the stress with ease.  I was flexible, I worked, I packed, I cleaned.  In the midst of all that there was a moderate amount of school that got done.  Now Monday is our self imposed deadline and I am a bit in freak out mode, except you don’t really see me freaking out. It’s all happening in my gut. Last night my stomach started hurting and continues to hurt today. My conclusion….an anxiety attack.  Please pray for me and our house, that someone would walk in here and love it instantly and offer full price for it.  Is it asking too much?

This weekend is the weekend to do the kitchen cabinets. What I mean by doing is they need to be emptied, all contact paper taken off (yuck, that stuff of horrible to remove after 9 years), kitchen taped off from the rest of the house (the one benefit of a galley kitchen), cabinets sanded and then cleaned and then sprayed. I have been dreading this moment.  I dread the mess most of all. I will not be able to keep dust off the rest of the house, no matter how well I tape.  Thankfully a friend will be taking the girls for the day so they won’t be ignored. They will be fed too, which is honestly the hardest part of having them home during the house repairs.  They have been so good, staying out of trouble and playing nicely, but it’s hard to remember to feed them when we are busy working on stuff.  My kitchen contents will be moved into the office on shelves and we will be eating out until the kitchen is usable again. I really hope this isn’t going to be a week long project and that we can move back on on Sunday evening.  I would love your prayers that things go smoothly if you think of it.  I still am out a bathroom sink, and I hope that gets fixed before the kitchen starts. It is hard not to get frustrated with not having something completely finished and checked off the list.
