Hubby cut his thumb at work a week and a half ago. He has stitches and due to this injury hasn’t been able to finish the trim work that we need to get done. So last week I hired someone to come on Friday to finish it up. He was here all day and didn’t quite finish the job. When hubby came home and saw the work he was very disappointed. On Saturday when he started working on a few projects and inspected the work further he became unglued. The work was sloppy to say the least. Some of it needed to be completely redone.
Why is it so hard to find good skilled workers? This is not the first time this has happened to us. In fact I don’t know that we have ever hired someone and have been satisfied with their work. We have had the most frustrating experiences ever. And guess what, these people show up late and do a crappy job and they still get paid. Then hubby has to fix the job they did.
Frustrating I tell ya!

I feel your pain! We have never EVER had a contractor that could do better work than David– except maybe electrical. David can do basic but doesn’t like to mess with redoing the whole circuit panel. Okay, even *I* could do a better job (and more quickly) than those losers out there. It drives me nuts. And do NOT think that hiring someone you know or from church is the way to go. NEVER do that! You’ll most likely ruin a relationship or lose all respect for them… we have BTDT with that too. Nice person does not necessarily mean skilled worker or good work ethic!
But at least it’s all done and we have personally done the rest of the work. Which is the way it should be!
