The process begins. I will be up to my eyeballs in boxes, cleaning two houses and painting. We still have a bit (a lot) of work on this house to get it ready to sell. The blessing is that I can pack all my clutter and move it to the new house in order to stage this house. It’s important to make potential buyers think this house is much bigger than it is, and to have them believe that we live in complete orderliness. Little that they will know that it is virtually impossible with three children, two cats, a dog and homeschooling. Over Christmas I had the opportunity to watch HGTV 24/7 and I was in heaven. (we don’t have cable). We learned the importance of staging a house and basically making it look like no one really lives there. We also learned what a new coat of paint can do to a room. Thankfully we have fairly fresh painted walls, but we do have touch ups, and we have a ton of trim painting to do, well, when the trim gets put up. We have been in a state of fixing up this house for the 9 years we have lived in it. Such a tragedy to get it all fixed up for the next people who will occupy this home. Why do we do this? Why can’t we get the work done and enjoy a home all nice and fixed up? I guess life just gets in the way and fixing up the home isn’t a priority.
The house we are moving into needs a ton of cleaning. It is sad to me that virtually new cabinets in the bathroom have been made filthy by not lining the drawers. There is make up and toothpaste staining the bare wood. That’s going to be a pain to clean up. Well, gotta get the day going. There is a ton to do.

Praying for you as you move, Susan!
And yes, it is a tremendous stress relief to have a place to put the clutter and keep a house that is ready to show. It kind of makes you want to declutter and just get rid of stuff once you see how peaceful things are without so much stuff.
We de-stuffed but have somehow managed to accumulate more over the holidays. But it is cozy and homey and it’s nice to finally be able to leave a pile just sitting there…
Can you take a whole bunch of before and after pictures? I am anxiously awaiting some before shots soon…
I’m excited for you! Deep breaths, one day at a time, all that stuff…
When all that fails, get a good bottle of Merlot…
very exciting stuff. I love the creating out of a blank slate…although I think it is hard to slow the clutter creeping back in…I like what you said about getting the work done so you can enjoy it NOW not so the next owner can enjoy it. Good luck, hope the rain cooperates with you and moving
