As I was putting our Book of Centuries together I came across a website, in fact there are tons available, that has free down-loadable clip art. What a great find. I click on the ‘history’ category and pick the area of study we are doing, search for a clip art that matches what I need, save it, print it, cut it out, and paste into our Book of Centuries. This is also a great tool for those who like lapbooking.
I had a hard time figuring out how I was going to do a timeline. I know there are many products out there but I didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money. I found this free Book of Centuries at simplycharlottemason.com. I downloaded it, printed it off, hole punched it and put it in a binder. Now when we study something we can keep track of when they happen and how it relates to other people and events we study. I noticed that it was getting more important to do this as we continue to study history. The girls are asking questions, like who came first, Pocahontas or Sacagawea? Honestly I have a hard time keeping it all straight in my head. We will work on one book for the whole family. I put tabs between the two time periods (BC and AD) to make it easier to find the time we need. I am excited to see this book come together through out the years.

I don’t have any timelines currently going on, but you can also use clipart to add to tops of writing assignments.
have you gone to the donna young website for some of her free helps? Also, what history curric are you using? I just found a sweet resource for the story of the world [first 2 years]. thanks for the tip
Isn’t the book of Centuries the best? We have really learned alot just learning about someone, making a notebooking page about them, and putting it in the book. I never would have known that George Washington lived at the same time as Mozart, if we didn’t put it in our Book of Centuries.
It was great to hear from you the other day!
